Bryan, an associate research scientist with ASU’s School of Electrical, Computer and Energy Engineering, is the principal investigator on the CubeSounder project, which aims to modernize the way satellites collect weather data. An ASU team is collaborating with NASA and commercial space companies to send a CubeSat to space to conduct research that will allow scientists to understand the evolution and habitability of planets.

With issues like climate change, commercial spaceflight and space colonization being broached by commercial space companies, a specific branch of law is growing to help the space industry and global governments navigate complex legal questions.

Dr. James Rice is a planetary geologist by trade, so joining the ASU NewSpace team put him in a brand new field. NewSpace deals primarily with commercial space endeavours, something Rice didn’t have much experience with.

AZLabs and ASU NewSpace Initiative’s defense and space technology exposition, Infinite Movement, featured several presentations from ASU faculty and researchers, as well as a speech from Sen. Mark Kelly.
